General Requirements & FAQ

A. HOW MANY SHIFTS/HOURS DO I NEED TO WORK?
i. All WEXers are required to work three (3) shifts in exchange for a ticket.
ii. Shifts are weighted, meaning that more desirable shifts will be longer and less desirable shifts will be shorter.
iii. There will be a variety of shifts in different departments available from Monday 2/2 through Wednesday, 2/11.

B. CAN I WORK EXTRA FOR AN RV/CAR CAMPING PASS?

Absolutely!!! You may work an additional two shifts in exchange for an RV/Car Camping Pass for the WEX Camp area. WEX passes are NOT valid for GA or Deluxe RV / Car Camping.

C. DO I HAVE TO PAY A DEPOSIT OR FEE?
i. YES. You are required to submit a $100 Deposit + $60 NON-REFUNDABLE Program Fee with your application.
iii. The deposit will be fully refunded minus a $10 processing fee ($90 total refund) upon satisfactory completion of WEX work requirements.

D. WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON'T COMPLETE MY REQUIRED HOURS?
i. You will not receive a refund for your deposit.
ii. You may have your wristband cut and be ejected from the venue and campgrounds.
iii. You will not be allowed to participate in Work Exchange at any of our future events.
iv. If you need to miss a shift or will be late FOR ANY REASON, please notify the WEX Coordinator ASAP and we will do what we can to help you resolve your situation.

E. WHAT IF I ALREADY PURCHASED A TICKET/PASS?
We suggest selling your ticket/pass. WEX cannot refund tickets, EA or camping passes. Email wex@gemandjamfestival.com if you have questions.

F. WHAT IF I CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY THE DEPOSIT?

i. If you are a returning WEXer or if the program fee is a barrier to your participation, we may be able to grant you a waiver.
ii. Approval is given on a case-by-case basis. Email wex@gemandjamfestival.com with your request.
iii. Please note that we are unable to waive the non-refundable $60 Program Fee. 

G. WHAT’S INCLUDED WITH WEX PARTICIPATION?

I. WHEN DO I GET MY SCHEDULE?
We will process applications on a rolling basis. Please be patient as this can take some time. Once your application is accepted, we will notify you of your assigned Work Area(s) and instructions on how to select your shifts.

J. CAN YOU HELP ME FIND SHIFTS THAT WORK FOR MY ACCESSIBILITY NEEDS?
YES! If you are a person with a disability or have other limitations, contact us at wex@gemandjamfestival.com for assistance.

K. ARE MEALS INCLUDED?
Meals are NOT included with WEX participation. Be sure to bring food/snacks to your shift if you think you will get hungry. Meal breaks will be provided for shifts longer than five hours.

L. CAN I WORK EXTRA SHIFTS TO EARN ANOTHER TICKET FOR MY PARTNER/HOMIE/GRANDMA?

M. WHEN CAN I ARRIVE ONSITE/SET UP CAMP?
i. All WEXers regardless of schedule can arrive onsite during our early admission hours on Thursday 2/5 from 10am-6pm (If you arrive later than 6pm you will not be able to enter the campgrounds until Friday morning)
ii. If you have a shift scheduled before Friday 2/6: (for example, Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday), you may arrive and set up camp before your shift.
  a. If your first shift start time is BEFORE 4pm: you may arrive the day before between 10am and 6pm.
  b. If your first shift start time is AFTER 4pm: you may arrive and set up camp that day starting at 10am.
  c. Plan to arrive a minimum of four hours before your first shift to allow time for check-in and setting up camp. 

N. CAN I CONTINUE TO STAY ONSITE IF I AM WORKING AFTER THE FESTIVAL?
i. YES, you may continue to camp on Festival Grounds after the festival ONLY on days you are working.
ii. If your post-event shift ends BEFORE 4PM: you must leave the Fairgrounds property on the same day as your last shift, so plan accordingly.
iii. If your post-event shift ends AT 4PM OR LATER: you may camp for the night and exit Fairgrounds property before noon the following day.
